Quality of Health Care for Children and Adolescents: A Chartbook is the second chartbook in the Quality Chartbook Series. In it, Leatherman and McCarthy select 40 charts and analyses from over 500 studies to represent the current state of pediatric health care.
The U.S. health care system has devoted less attention to measuring and reporting on quality of care for children and adolescents than it has for adults, even though adult data are not necessarily a good proxy for the quality of children's care. Quality of Health Care for Children and Adolescents illustrates dramatic progress in some areas, such as reductions in hospital-acquired infections in pediatric intensive care units, and serious challenges in many others, such as gaps in preventive care and developmental services. It also includes several charts illustrating interventions that have successfully improved quality of care.
